What is a Chapter Ambassador?

In September 2019, the CMSA created the Foundation’s Chapter Ambassador program to act as a two-way connector and liaison between the CMSA Foundation to the CMSA Chapters.   This created a two-way sharing of news, ideas, and input on projects, as well as an extension of sharing through social media and chapter websites.

The Foundation Ambassadors are the champions at the local level that will help create awareness about the Foundation’s programs and projects, as well as create fundraising activities with local members and/or the local healthcare community.

What support is available for Chapter Ambassadors?

Several resources are already created for chapters to use. These can be found on the Chapter Resource section of the website. However, Chapter Ambassadors may suggest other resources, materials or designs that will be beneficial to supporting their local fundraising or awareness programs. Simply contact the CMSA Foundation with your ideas!

There are also Foundation and case management apparel you can wear, and an online group discussion to interact with Foundation board, committee and other Ambassadors. This is a great way to exchange ideas, ask for support, and brag on yourself!

How much volunteer time will be needed?

On average, an Ambassador might spend about 10 hours on volunteer time each month.  This might include a conference call with other Ambassadors and Chapter Outreach Committee, planning a fundraising or awareness activity at the next chapter event, and attending chapter event to answer questions, collect donations and take photos.   And, then share your story back to the Ambassador team on the outcomes of your activities, along with photos!

Who is the ideal Ambassador?

While Chapter Ambassadors will all be unique individuals with their own sense of style, an ideal Ambassador will have a few characteristics in common.

Chapter Ambassadors will have the gift of gab and love to talk to others - whether it’s at a Foundation table/booth, or at the podium updating the chapter about current Foundation programs. Chapter Ambassadors will be comfortable communicating with the Foundation and other Ambassadors to get ideas, resources or share an idea of their own! Chapter Ambassadors are proud of the hard work they are doing and willing to brag - whether it’s sharing news, activities, or photos on websites, social media and even with other Ambassadors. And, lastly, Chapter Ambassadors love to delegate! They are not afraid to seek help from colleagues if a project is too big and may even create a local committee to help them!
